This policy explains which cookies and browser storage technologies Tennis Arcade Games uses, what each is for, and how to control them. It describes what the site actually does today, not what a generic template assumes a website does.
Last updated: 15 September 2026.
This site currently sets no cookies at all. It stores five small preference values in your browser's localStorage — your game scores, your sound setting, your saved games, your recently played list and your cookie-notice choice — none of which is transmitted anywhere. If advertising is added in future, that will change, and this page will be updated before it does.
Cookies, localStorage, and why the difference matters
These get lumped together and they behave differently, which matters for what each can do.
A cookie is a small file that your browser sends back to the server with every single request to that domain. Because it travels with requests, a cookie can be read by the server, and third-party cookies are the mechanism behind most cross-site tracking.
localStorage is browser storage that is never sent anywhere automatically. It is readable only by JavaScript running on the site that set it, it is scoped to that one origin, and the server never sees it unless the page explicitly transmits it — which this site never does. It also has no expiry; it persists until you or the site clears it.
The practical consequence: the preferences this site stores are structurally incapable of tracking you, because they never leave your device.
What this site sets today
Cookies: none
This is a static site with no server-side application, no sessions and no logins, so there is nothing for a first-party cookie to do. No third-party scripts run, so no third-party cookies are set either.
localStorage: five values
| Key | Purpose | Category | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
ta:best:<game> | Your best score in one game | Functional | Until you clear it |
ta:sound | Whether game sound is enabled | Functional | Until you clear it |
ta:favourites:v1 | Games you marked as saved | Functional | Until you clear it |
ta:recent:v1 | The last few games you opened | Functional | Until you clear it |
ta:consent:v1 | Your choice on the cookie notice | Essential | Until you clear it |
None of these identifies you, and none is shared with anyone. If you decline storage or your browser blocks it, the site still works — you simply lose your scores between visits, and the games handle that case without error.
Why there is a cookie notice at all
A reasonable question, given that we set no cookies.
Two reasons. First, we intend to run advertising at some point, and advertising means third-party cookies. Recording your preference now means that when that day comes we already know your answer, rather than setting things first and asking afterwards.
Second, the notice is an opportunity to tell you what the site does with browser storage, which most people would otherwise never find out. We would rather over-explain than have the storage be a surprise.
If you choose "Essential only", that choice is recorded and will be honoured if and when non-essential technologies are introduced. Choosing it does not disable your game scores, which are functional storage you control directly and which never leave your device.
What would change with advertising
Being concrete about this is more useful than a vague reservation of rights.
If advertising is introduced, an advertising network's script would run on these pages. Such networks typically set cookies to count impressions, limit how often you see the same advertisement, detect fraudulent clicks and — depending on configuration and your consent — select what is shown based on interests.
Those cookies would be set by the advertising provider, not by us, and that provider would be a data controller in its own right for what it collects.
What we commit to:
- This page will list the provider, the cookies it sets and their purposes, before any advertising code is deployed.
- Where consent is legally required for non-essential cookies, it will be obtained before they are set — not on the page after.
- Your recorded preference will be applied rather than reset.
- A means of changing your mind will remain available on this page.
How to control storage
On this site
Clearing this site's data in your browser removes everything listed above, including your game scores. There is no way to remove only some of it from our side, because we have no access to it.
In your browser
Every major browser lets you view and delete cookies and site data, block them by site, or clear everything on exit. The controls are usually under Settings, then Privacy — the exact path differs by browser and version, so browser documentation is a more reliable guide than anything we could print here.
Private or incognito windows generally discard all site storage when closed, which means your scores will not persist between sessions.
What breaks if you block storage
Very little. The games are fully playable. You lose:
- Your best scores between sessions (the current session's score still works normally).
- Your sound preference, which resets to on.
- Saved games and the recently played list.
- Dismissal of the cookie notice, which will reappear.
Everything that stores data is wrapped so that a blocked or failing storage call is handled gracefully. A browser configured to block site data will not produce errors here.
Third-party content
This site loads no third-party fonts, scripts, analytics or embedded media. Every asset needed to render a page comes from this domain, which is why there are no third-party cookies to disclose.
Share buttons on articles are ordinary links. They contact no social network until you click one, and no tracking pixel or platform script is loaded in the meantime.
